Create, Skate, and RIP!

The skateboarders of Mt. Airy, NC had spent 4 years of there lives struggling to get a beautiful skate plaza built in the town. After 4 years of working hard, it was finally finished. The skaters had gotten together and had teamed up with an organization that called themselves the Create and Skate Mount Airy Skate Plaza Project, which consisted of Will, Justin, Wes, Toby, and many others. The help was greatly appreciated guys, even to this day. There had been many fundraisers organized to build this park, mainly due to the fact that the city had stated clearly they weren't going to spend a time. Kinda selfish. After this park had finally been built, it became the biggest bust in town. Literally. You could skate within a 10 mile radius of the police station and not get in as much trouble as you could as this park. After 2 weeks of being open, the city had started to crack down on the local skaters who were refusing to wear helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads. Most skaters had agreed to wearing at least helmets, but this wasn't enough for the city. Although the park was mainly designed to give the skaters a place to go, instead of the streets. Skaters had begun to get charged $144 fines, 4 months probation, and 12 hours of community service. Ridiculous. This skate park was the first one of its kind around here, and they messed it up for their own greedy profits, even after not paying a penny on it. People from all over the state had started to come and visit just to skate this park and see it, people had also actually been talking about moving into the town, but not anymore. This was the first actual attention Mt. Airy had been receiving for a while, and it had been needing it, especially from the youth. A dream that took 4 years to make into a reality, took less then 2 weeks to turn into a nightmare..But the best part is, we're skateboarders, we'll continue to skate it anyways. It's in our blood.
